Maya Smolarek, MD

Resident Physician, UCLA

Maya T Smolarek grew up in both Minneapolis, Minnesota and Southern California. Her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley in Religious and Buddhist Studies provides a special lens through which she practices Psychiatry. Her interests are broad and include medical ethics, meaning at end of life, victims of trauma, women's mental health, and psychotherapy. She co-founded the Women in Psychiatry group at UCLA and has done extensive work examining the topic of sexual harassment from patients and its deleterious effects on trainees. She will be the Interpersonal Therapy Chief in the upcoming academic year. In her spare time she is an avid reader and enjoys sci-fi films and her rambunctious cats.
