Kurt has 35 years of experience working for and with the railroad industry including 13 years in railroad operations for BNSF (roles included Engineering, Maintenance of Way, Train Operations, and Intermodal). His expertise includes:
INTERMODAL: He led the recent site inventory of all (nationwide) BNSF Intermodal and Automotive Facilities and the development of the Planning and Design Guidelines for BNSF’s Intermodal and Automotive Facilities;
UNIT TRAIN FACILITIES: He has led and provided oversight for the design and construction of dozens of liquid and dry bulk unit train facilities; PORT RAIL FACILITIES: He managed the just-completed $252M Port of Vancouver USA West Vancouver Freight Access project that significantly improved rail traffic and freight capacity. In 2016, the WVFA Railroad Grade Separation Trench Project won an ACEC Oregon Engineering Excellence Grand Award. In 2019, the WVFA Program won an ACEC Oregon Engineering Excellence Grand Award. INVENTOR: He is also the co-inventor of the patent-pending High-Throughput Unit Train and Intermodal Infinity Loop, a design that improves efficiency of unit train loading and unloading operations. In 2019, the Infinity Loop won an ACEC National Engineering Excellence Grand Award.
