Rakesh Goel is Executive Associate Dean in the College of Engineering and Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo. He specializes in earthquake analysis and design of structures. His work has been adapted by seismic codes and guidelines in the US, such as ASCE 7-02 and FEMA-356. He has authored/co-authored more than one-hundred-fifty technical publications and has been awarded Huber Research Prize and Norman Medal by the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is Fellow of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and Structural Engineering Institute (SEI), and currently serves on the Editorial Board of Earthquake Engineering Research Institute’s Journal Spectra. He received his Master and Doctoral degrees in structural engineering from University of California at Berkeley.
