COIL Virtual Exchange utilizes technology to bring meaningful interactions and diverse cultural perspectives to university students who may not study abroad. This workshop introduces SIOs, staff, and faculty to this model, taking them through planning and implementation steps needed to build, integrate, and sustain a COIL campus initiative.

Learning Objectives:

• Identify key elements and drivers of the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Virtual Exchange internationalization model
• Orchestrate the design and implementation of COIL Virtual Exchange courses on your campus
• Develop the strategic connections needed on-campus and abroad to integrate COIL Virtual Exchange into the university curriculum, while integrating it into existing mobility programs and other activities of the international programs office
• Explore the faculty partnering and professional development challenges inherent in COIL Virtual Exchange, and through brief case studies, discover how universities in multiple countries have responded to these challenges
