Purpose: The St. John’s University Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship Program offers PharmD graduates hands-on training in specific industry functional areas at leading pharmaceutical companies. The objective of this study is to better understand the impact the fellowship has had on the success of its graduates and the process of finding a job upon completion of the fellowship. This information will benefit current and future fellows in their job search post-fellowship and will identify areas of improvement for the program.
Methods: Forty-eight alumni were sent an invitation to complete an online survey via email or LinkedIn. This survey was voluntary and anonymous. It was approved by the St. John’s University IRB and was conducted using Google forms. The link to the online survey first took participants to a page on the purpose of the study and a consent form. The survey consisted of 29 questions. Multiple-choice questions were used to collect demographic data and information regarding the participant’s fellowship, first job post-fellowship, and first job search. A Likert scale was used to assess the perceived value of and satisfaction with the fellowship program. The online survey took an estimated 5 to 10 minutes to complete and was active for approximately two months. To be included in the final data analysis, participants must have completed one hundred percent of the questions.
