The MCPHS Biopharmaceutical Industry Fellowship Program is comprised of PharmD graduates seeking advanced, specialized training within the biopharmaceutical industry. As part of the curriculum, Fellows are required to complete scholarly activities, such as creating a Continuing Education course, publishing an article in a peer-reviewed journal, or presenting research at a national conference.
There is a lack of published data that describes the amount, type, or perceived value of scholarship activities among Fellowship programs. The goal of this study is to quantify the types of scholarly activities and describe the perceived value of these activities among the MCPHS Biopharmaceutical Industry Fellows.
A retrospective review of past and current MCPHS Fellows’ scholarly activities (2014 to 2019) will be conducted to quantify the amount and types of activities produced during this time. The information will come from aggregate reports internally maintained by the MCPHS Biopharmaceutical Industry Fellowship Program. An online survey will also be distributed to 2014-2019 Fellows to describe their experiences with scholarly projects performed and analyze the impact their projects may have had. The survey will look at time commitment, type of project, collaboration, and overall perceptions of the project. The survey will be designed using Qualtrics. Data will be qualitatively grouped to find trends related to the amount of time spent on a project, the impact, and the fellows’ perceptions.
