Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop and implement a quality assurance program to assess adherence rates with the activities described within an institutional collaborative practice agreement. The second purpose is to assess the resources associated with implementing a quality assurance program.
Using the plan, do, check, act framework, the project will be divided into three phases. Phase one will define the parameters used to determine overall adherence to each of the activities described within the health systems collaborative practice agreement. The research team will coordinate with the pharmacy informatics team to build the necessary reporting tools needed for tracking pharmacist medication order modifications defined within the collaborative practice agreement. The Institute for Healthcare Improvement quality improvement tools will be used as the framework to track and trend adherence to each standard over time.
