Clinical Pharmacist Specialist

Katleen Wyatt Chester, PharmD, BCCCP, BCGP is the clinical pharmacist specialist for the neurocritical care unit at Grady Health System and director of the second, ASHP-accredited PGY-2 Neurology Pharmacy Residency Program in the country. She earned a BS degree in Biology from Georgia State University and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Mercer University Southern School of Pharmacy in 2006. She specialized in critical care after completing two years of residency training at Grady Memorial Hospital. Following post-graduate training, she began her career as a clinical pharmacist in the health system's busy Emergency Department, and in 2010 implemented clinical pharmacy services in the hospital's state-of-the-art Neuroscience Center. Dr. Chester values teaching. While precepting pharmacy students and residents, she also serves as adjunct faculty for the Emory University School of Nursing. She contributes to the pharmacy and medical community through organizational involvement and scholarship. Dr. Chester has served as President of the Southeast Chapter of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) from 2013-2015 and continues to remain involved. She also serves on the Pharmacy Leadership, Membership, and Advocacy Committees of the multi-disciplinary Neurocritical Care Society (NCS). Dr. Chester participates as a reviewer for the Journal of Critical Care and the Annals of Pharmacotherapy and aims to continue advancing clinical pharmacy practice through new initiatives, research and education.
