ACPE Activity #0204-0000-19-256-L01-P
1.00 Contact Hours | Application-based
Although many pharmacists do not specifically practice in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), they should be aware of the impact of medication selection on the developing brain of neonates, infants, and young children and the future consequences that may result. The goal of this session will be to provide an advanced discussion of agents with known negative and positive long-term neurodevelopmental effects, strategies to limit the use of medications with negative effects, and the need for additional studies of commonly used medications in the NICU. The learner will be polled on several occasions during the session to compare practices between institutions and provide opportunities for practitioners to identify new strategies to limit the negative effects of these agents.
This activity is approved for Board Certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist (BCPPS) recertification credit.
