Pediatric vascular access can be challenging, especially for short-term therapies. With the gaining popularity of midline catheters in the adult population, these devices are now being inserted in pediatrics. The challenges and processes that each institution may face will be discussed along with strategies to bridge the gap between midline catheters and PICC’s. During this presentation, current practices for midline catheters including review of literature, advantages and disadvantages, care and maintenance, and complications will be reviewed.
