Dr. Gerald Prager is an Associate Professor of Medicine Board Certified for Internal Medicine and Board Certified for Hematology and Medical Oncology. After he graduated at the medschool of the University of Vienna (MUV), he received a Postdoctoral Training at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). He was a Visiting Professor at the Norris Cancer Center, University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles in 2011. In 2012 Dr. Prager became an Associate Professor at the Medical University of Vienna.
Dr. Prager is Director of the Gastrointestinal Cancer Program of the Department of Medical Oncology at the Medical University of Vienna and Comprehensive Cancer Center Vienna. Furthermore, he leads the Unit for Precision Medicine in Cancer. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO).
The research interest of his lab is focuses on (tumor-) angiogenesis via regulation of cell survival and migration by cell / extracellular-matrix interaction. Through his clinical training for hemato-oncology, he became a member of the sought after group of medical researches. Due the translational research expertise, Dr. Prager is running the Precision Medicine in Cancer Unit. His work is honoured by 20 international awards and resulted in publications in international highly renowned journals. Dr Prager’s research group is embedded in an international cancer research campus associated with MUV.
