As per UAE federal law, all travelers to Abu Dhabi may carry prescription medications for personal use for a period of no more than three months or for the length of their trip, whichever is shorter, but must carry a valid medical prescription on them at all times. If a traveler is unsure of whether a prescription is needed, it is highly encouraged to seek approval prior to traveling to Abu Dhabi.
All controlled substances defined as Narcotics, Psychotropics, CDA and CDB medications must have prior approval and registration through the Registration and Drug Control Department, Ministry of Health.
