It is a great honor for me to serve the Endourological Society as its 16th President. I thank the former President Ali Riza Kural for his immense contributions to our Society during the last year.
The 36th World Congress of Endourology, held in Paris, France this year in September 20-24 was again a great success. We had the opportunity to unite, exchange ideas, learn about innovations and get together with friends. I want to thank especially Prof. Olivier Traxer and his team for their hard work. We will never forget the Gala-Dinner in the Foundation Louis Vuitton.
Yasser Farahat and his colleagues from the Emirates Urological Society already eagerly prepare the 37th WCE in Abu Dhabi on October 29 to November 2, 2019. I am sure that it will be a very memorable meeting both scientifically and socially.
The mission of our Society is to lead the field of minimally invasive urology in all aspects, such as basic and clinical research, development of new technologies and techniques and spreading the-state-of-the art knowledge worldwide. The Journal of Endourology, CROES, Educational meetings world-wide, and the World Endo Initiative are some of the efforts to function as a truly global Society.
Endourological Society has a lot to offer: Fellowships, scholarships and many training courses are offered to urologists wishing to expand their knowledge and limits in the field of Endourology. Please refer to our website for details and updates. (www.endourology.org)
In the last year the Executive of our Society underwent several important changes. We want to thank John Denstedt, who worked during the last years very effectively as our Treasurer and will be now replaced by Chandru Sundaram. I am excited to work with such a great, dedicated and motivated team, who work very hard to improve and expand our Society in particular with Margaret Pearle as Secretary General who has to carry most of our work load.
The members are always grateful to our founding President Arthur Smith and Ralph Clayman for transforming this organization from a small group of Endourology innovators into a structured and fully global Society. I am humbled with their success and determined to do my best in the up-coming year.
I am looking forward to a fruitful year for the Endourological Society. I will do my best to fulfill my duties as the President and please do not hesitate to contact me for any questions, opinions or suggestions. With this in mind I wish you all the best for 2019.
