Senior Manager, Educational and Tech Initiatives

Katy Schmid is the Senior Manager of Educational and Tech Initiatives at The Arc of the United States. She graduated with honors from Longwood University, earning both her Bachelors and Masters Degree in education with a K-12 special education certification as well as a K-6 general education certification. Katy began her career as a special education teacher in Arlingion Public Schools. Thereafter, she accepted a position as the Assistive Technology lead for Fairfax County Public School's Career and Transition programs where she supported students using technology supports in secondary and post-secondary settings. She also worked as the Director of Professional Services at Rethink Ed and supported educators in school districts across the Northeast. Katy joined the staff at The Arc in January 2016 and works on various teams including The Arc@School, Individual and Family Supports and Tech Programs.
