In this class, you will create a patchwork quilt back using improvisational techniques. The objective of this workshop is to create a quilt back using your own quilt top as a starting point. The goal of the class is to create a pieced quilt back, using improvisational piecing - with an minimalist aesthetic. The students will learn how to focus their fabric choices, based on an already made quilt top, and use purposeful editing to create a quilt back that is as beautiful as the quilt top. The class is designed to challenge your improv process by restraining the number of fabrics used and paring down choices through thoughtful subtraction. Even if you are not a minimalist or an improv piecer, this process will help you to make stronger coordinating and contrasting fabric selections and to refine your focus through your design.
