7th Annual Gulf-Atlantic Veterinary Conference
The veterinarian and veterinary health care professionals are uniquely positioned to play a significant role in the protection of people and pets from exposure to ticks and the numerous pathogens they can transmit. The first step is to be able to accurately identify at-risk populations. Armed with this information, client education, tick prevention and management of seropositive animals — both healthy and sick — are instrumental in controlling and minimizing tick-borne diseases in people and pets. This presentation will outline a guide to navigating the complicated and controversial task the veterinary health profession faces in helping to prevent the spread of ticks and tick-borne diseases.
