ER and Critical Care
7th Annual Gulf-Atlantic Veterinary Conference
Reproductive emergencies are common in both the general practice and the emergency room setting. Veterinary team members must be familiar with normal parturition and reproductive anatomy to recognize these potentially life-threatening conditions. Recognition is not only in the hospital setting but may begin with phone call triage to determine if a client's question warrants patient evaluation. This lecture will review common reproductive medical conditions, including dystocia, eclampsia, and pyometra focusing on historical and examination findings, diagnostics, therapeutics and monitoring goals.
