7th Annual Gulf-Atlantic Veterinary Conference
Dylan Buss, DVM, MS, DACVO
Animal Eye Specialty Clinic
In this day and age of advancing surgical options, we wanted to present a synopsis of what we can offer our veterinary patients. We often get asked by our referring doctors what phacoemulsification (cataract surgery) and endorser cyclophotocoagulation (glaucoma surgery) involve so that they can provide an overview to their clients prior to referral. We all know how paramount client communication is. For the non-ophthalmologist, understanding the available surgical options so that they can start the conversation with their clients can be extremely beneficial. In this presentation, we will discuss proper diagnosis of the different categories of cataract and glaucoma. From here, we will proceed into an overview of what we can offer for surgical treatments of these conditions and when are the appropriate times to refer.
