Antibiotics are very commonly prescribed. Significant differences exist between dogs, cats, birds, herbivores and other exotic pets. Empirical therapy decisions need to be based on various factors including safety, sound pharmacologic data (if present), likely pathogens present and ease of administration. Enrofloxacin is not always the best answer.
