This class is an intermediate class on SQL Reporting Services with Dynamics GP. Its focus is on writing reports based on GP data. We will begin with a review of SSRS 101 fundamentals and move into intermediate concepts. We will create multiple report templates, build reports using templates, and utilize both Report Builder and Business Intelligence Development Studio. We will explore using more advanced queries to build data sets for reports. Additionally, we will use various functions available in SQL Server Reporting Services to add functionality to our reports.
Learning Objectives:
• Understand the difference between creating reports using Report Builder and SQL Data Tools
• Create a report using SQL Data Tools
• Create reports using Report Builder
Understand how to create these types of reports:
• Record Lists – Display information from one or more tables
• Mailing Labels – Create mailing labels of various sizes
• Graphical reports – Display charts, data bars, spark lines, and indicators
• Operational Reports using Parameters – Report that utilizes multiple different types of parameters
• Pivot Table-Style Reports – Aggregate data
With these reports, you will use this functionality:
• User-selectable grouping
• Interactive sorting
• Explicit page breaks
• Floating headers
• Multiple columns
• Data aggregation
• Cascading parameters
• Table filters
• Data bars, indicators, and spark lines
• Using the Switch function
• Joining tables
Audience: Power-user, GP Support, IT Professional
Level: Intermediate
Prerequisites: Understanding of Dynamics GP processes and terms, some exposure to SQL Server Management Studio and SQL concepts, some experience in report writing (e.g., Crystal Reports, Microsoft Access, etc.) is helpful but not required.
