The Power Platform combined with SharePoint Online/Azure SQL Databases is very well suited for all kind of business solutions. Extending this platform with Azure Automation, I call this "The Powermation Platform", gives your organization an even richer and more powerful platform.
Which organization does not have a server "laying around" for executing recurring tasks or to execute tasks which need elevated permissions because an account is used which, due to security restrictions, is only known to your IT admins? The Powermation platform is very well suited for these situations and includes all kinds of extras like code reuse, source control and modules from the PowerShell gallery. It also allows your organization to make your IT admins and power users with PowerShell scripting capabilities become part of the business solution teams which is very interesting from an organization perspective.
In this session, a quick overview of Azure Automation is given but for the most part, the usefulness of extending the Power Platform with Azure Automation is demonstrated using a sample business solution: Case management. It is based on PowerApps, Flow, SharePoint Online and of course Azure Automation. You will see functionalities like site deployment, report generation and archiving documents. Also, a pattern is shown which allows your business solution teams to indirectly use the power of Azure Automation without giving them access to the sensitive account information.
