Blast and Impact Loading and Response of Structures
Full Session with Abstracts
Chapter 6 provides criteria for assessing the adequacy of structural systems in resisting propagation of local damage due to an event which may lead to either a total collapse of building or partial collapse which is disproportionate to the magnitude of initial damage. Because of a limited number of full-scale test results that represent disproportionate collapse system behavior are available, the current version of the acceptance criteria in Chapter 6 has incorporated appropriate acceptance criteria in ASCE 41 Standard (Seismic Rehabilitation of Existing Buildings). The acceptance criteria presented in this chapter also reflect different outcome of structural response values that reflect analytical procedures used to analyze structural responses, such as the Linear Static Procedure versus the Non-Linear Static Procedure. Different analytical procedures are given in Chapter 5 (Design and Analysis Approaches). In this presentation, key features of Chapter 6, the areas where experimental data are needed, types of test to yield to strengthen acceptance criteria will be presented.
