Full Session without Abstracts
The SEI Vision for the Future ensures a vibrant future for structural engineering where structural engineers lead and innovate to improve the safety and well-being of the global population. This session brings together key members from a local project team on a large urban hospital expansion project to hear their opinions on how structural engineers lead and innovate. They will offer their opinions based on their experience from this recently completed project and whether the role of the structural engineer has changed over the course of their careers.
The panel will consist of senior leaders representing the owner, architect, authority having jurisdiction, academician and general contractor.
The session format will be an interactive panel discussion. The panel members will state their prepared opinions on whether structural engineers are viewed as leaders and innovators and whether they have seen the role of the structural engineer change over time based on their experience. The audience will be encouraged to participate and offer their opinions and ask questions.
Practitioners and academicians will take away insight on the role structural engineers have on large critical projects and whether and how the role of the structural engineer is changing as seen from the eyes of their interdisciplinary peers.
This session is being submitted as a 60 minute session.
