Blast load is a unique and different type of load, which hits the structure with rapid moving shock waves.
The present study is taken up to analysis the behavior of retaining wall built to protect a building which hosts important equipment and personals subjected to shock waves of blast. The model of the counterfort retaining wall with soil is prepared using STAAD Pro and analyzed. The code UFC3-340-02 specifies, the design of individual elements subjected to direct blast pressure ie elemental approach. The design values of the elements except stem and counterforts are extracted from the STAAD-Pro analysis and are compared with that obtained using conventional methods. The Stem and counterfort elements are also modeled separately and their support rotations are compared with that of conventional values.
