Margaret M Samyn MD (Professor, Pediatric Cardiology - Medical College of Wisconsin) is a cardiologist with expertise in non-invasive imaging (echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging). She sees pediatric cardiac patients at the Herma Heart Institute (Children's Hospital of Wisconsin). A graduate of University of Detroit (summa cum laude, BS Chemistry and Biology, 1985) and Wayne State University (Alpha Omega Alpha, MD, 1989), Dr Samyn served her internship (Internal Medicine/Pediatrics) at the University of Michigan, where she completed her residency (Pediatrics, 1992). Dr Samyn completed Pediatric Cardiology fellowship training at the University of Iowa (1994 - 1997). Dr Samyn has had roles in private practice, in the pharmaceutical industry (Parke-Davis/ Warner Lambert and Pfizer), and in academia. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Cardiology, and the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR). Margaret Samyn MD has practiced clinical CMR for the past 15 yrs. Her research centers on CMR evaluation of congenital heart disease. Dr Samyn has also worked extensively with colleagues at Marquette University for computational fluid dynamics modeling of CMR data to evaluate aortic flow dynamics. She also is interested in CMR for the evaluation of heart transplant recipients. Dr Samyn has served on the Executive Steering Committee for the Pediatric/ Congenital section within SCMR.
