Cardiac MRI Technologist
Duke University
I have worked in the field of cardiovascular magnetic resonance for over 20 years. My CMR career began as a research technologist at Wake Forest University (WFU) with Dr. W. Gregory Hundley. My initial work focused upon diastolic heart failure and aortic distensibility. In the seven years at WFU, I was an author or co-author of 9 manuscripts in peer reviewed journals, including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. Additionally, I underwent further training to obtain the ARRT certification in MRI technology, as well as a Bachelors in Radiologic Science.
In 2005, I took a position as a technologist at Duke University Cardiovascular MRI Center. At Duke, my role encompasses clinical and research imaging, including the development of new pulse sequences as well as optimizing standard cardiovascular imaging protocols. I am responsible for training physicians and technologists and oversee the accreditation of our facility with the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission. I have continued participating in research and won the Best Abstract award at the SCMR in Nice, France in 2011 for my work on “The Safety of Adenosine Stress Testing in Patients with Aortic Stenosis,” which was presented at both the Technologist Section, and the Physician Section of the meeting. My latest accomplishment was being elected to the 2017 SCMR Board of Trustees and obtaining Fellow status in the SCMR in2018.
