Linda Sanches, MPH is the Senior Advisor for Health IT and Privacy Policy in the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) within the federal Department of Health and Human Services. Her projects include developing policies to improve coordination of care while preserving the privacy and security of health information. She develops HIPAA Privacy, Security and Breach Notification Rule guidance and technical assistance for covered entities and others that develop and use digital health technology. She coordinates HIPAA enforcement and policy projects to improve privacy protections and individual access to health information. She collaborates with the FTC, the HHS Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC), and other federal agencies on mobile health and health record interoperability policy and outreach. Linda constructed the OCR health app developer portal to address health IT-related privacy and security questions and improve communications between OCR and health IT stakeholders http://hipaaqsportal.hhs.gov/.
