Joan has 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. She joined Merck 4 years ago to build a superb team to develop clinical regulatory documentation and informed consent in support of the innovative and science-driven pipeline. In this new environment she has had support to enable her game-changing work in the management of clinical information, focused authoring, and improving patient-facing materials. Promoting educated consent is one of Joan’s passions and she is involved in several activities to improve the consent process. Joan has served as an advisor to TransCelerate initiatives, as a member of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association Circle of Advisors, and the as the Chair of the 2018 inaugural meeting of the American Medical Writers Association’s Medical Writing Executives Forum. In 2018, she was named a Lang Center Innovation Fellow of Columbia University, where she is a regular guest lecturer.
