Senior IRB Analyst
UC San Diego
Jennifer Dier, BS, CIP, CCRP, CHRC is a Senior IRB Analyst at the University of California San Diego, where she has been involved in human research protections for over 9 years. She began her career in laboratory animal care, transitioning to research grant administration before joining the UC San Diego Human Research Protection Program. Initially, Jennifer managed the review process for a general biomedical IRB committee that specialized in the review of pediatric, and Veterans Administration research protocols. In her current role, she reviews human subjects research protocols (including pre-review of those of potentially greater than minimal risk); approves research that meets the criteria for expedited review; and makes exempt human subjects research and "not human subjects research" determinations. With her varied background, she has a unique perspective that allows her to bridge the gap between her responsibilities for human research protections and the needs of investigators conducting research. This has allowed her to expand her role to include educational outreach to the campus community and conducting new IRB member training.
