Director, Harvard University Area IRB
Shannon Sewards is the Director of the Harvard University Area IRB. With over fifteen years of experience in the field of human subjects protection, she has held positions at several IRBs in the Seattle, WA and Los Angeles, CA region. Shannon's educational background is in Psychology having attained an undergraduate degree from UCLA and a graduate degree from Pepperdine University. She has taken a particular interest in streamlining existing IRB processes as well as in developing new methods to compete in the ever changing regulatory arena such as with the movement to find flexibility in the human subject protection regulations, with the NIH genomic data sharing policy, and in simplifying the regulatory approach to large data and biospecimen repositories.
