Joanne R. Less, Ph.D. is the Director of the Office of Good Clinical Practice (OGCP) in the Office of the Commissioner, FDA. Dr. Less has been with FDA for 25 years and with OGCP since 2007. OGCP is the focal point for good clinical practice issues in clinical trials of FDA-regulated products and is responsible for coordinating and leading the development of human subject protection and good clinical practice policy across the agency. Previous to her current position, she was the Associate Director for Clinical Research and Government Affairs in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) at FDA.
Dr. Less has a B.S. in Chemistry from the College of William and Mary and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia. Before joining FDA, she was a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh and a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University.
