Bethany Johnson, JD, CIP, is the University Director of the Human Research Protection Program at Indiana University (IU). In this role, she is responsible for daily operational oversight of IU’s four IRBs as well as the human subjects auditing, clinicaltrials.gov compliance, and clinical research billing compliance programs. She is also responsible for development and improvement of institutional policies, procedures, and guidance regarding human subjects research. Bethany has spoken at national conferences on a range of research compliance topics impacting biomedical and social-behavioral research. She has undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Business from Indiana University and a law degree from Loyola University – Chicago. Prior to joining the human subjects protection field, she was a practicing attorney in Illinois.
