Joseph E. Crossno, MS, CPIA, is the Assistant Director of the Office of Research Compliance atCentral Michigan University. Formerly a Research Compliance Analyst, Academic Research Laboratory Manager and Research Associate with twenty years experience in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Pharmacology research at The University of Michigan, Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Michigan State University. Graduate and undergraduate degrees in Zoology (Evolutionary Biology and Cellular and Developmental Biology) from Michigan State University and additional undergraduate training (associates degree/specialization) in accounting (WCC) and education (MSU). Extensive experience in IBC related compliance (Biosafety/Laboratory safety, Select Agents, DURC) and IACUC related compliance (USDA/AWARs, PHS) as well as Human Subject Research, Export Controls, Scheduled Substances (DEA and state regulations) and Radiation Safety.
