IRB Specialist

Cecilia Brooke Cholka, MA, CIP, is an IRB Specialist in Research Integrity at the University of Nevada, Reno. She works to demystify IRB processes and expectations so that researchers and the IRB can work together collaboratively to ensure ethical conduct of research. Brooke is co-founder and co-facilitator of the SBER Network and is passionate about supporting SBER IRB professionals. She is a contributing author to the third edition of IRB Management and Function by Bankert, Gordon, Hurley, and Shriver (Eds). Brooke also participates in PRIM&R’s Leadership Development Initiative (PLDI). In addition to her work in IRB, Brooke is currently a PhD Candidate in Health Communication through the Department of Communication and Journalism at the University of New Mexico. Her research focuses on human sexuality and health disparities, particularly in Latinx communities.
