Todd W. Rice, M.D., M.Sc.
Dr. Rice is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt University. He also serves as the Medical Director of the Vanderbilt Human Research Protections Program. As a physician scientist, he conducts clinical research in the ICU, specifically in patients with sepsis, ARDS, and acute respiratory failure. One of his research focuses is Research on Medical Practices (ROMP). In the regulatory world, he has extensive experience in regulatory oversight of clinical research. He was the PI of an R01 which developed the IREx platform and investigated different single IRB mechanisms for multicenter trials. He is the PI for the central IRB for the NHLBI-funded PETAL network. He has experience as both an investigator and IRB administrator in managing single IRB review of multicenter studies.
