He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts -Amherst and his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston MA. He completed training in Pediatrics at the University of Vermont Medical Center, Burlington VT and neurology training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He works and teaches at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford CT where he is Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology, the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Associate Chair for Academic Affairs in the Department of Pediatrics. He is a certified IRB professional, serves as the Medical Director of Connecticut Children’s Medical Center HRPP and IRB Chair. He has a master’s degree in Adult Learning.
His academic focus is on teaching and conducting clinical research on children with non-epileptic paroxysmal disorders and neurocutaneous diseases. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and monographs as well as a textbook in child neurology, Nonepileptic Childhood Paroxysmal Disorders, Oxford University Press, 2009. He is an active member of the Child Neurology Society, the American Academy of Neurology, the American Neurological Association, the Society for Pediatric Research, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
