Senior Advisor for HIPAA Policy

Marissa Gordon-Nguyen is the Senior Advisor for HIPAA Policy in the HHS Office for Civil Rights, which administers and enforces the HIPAA Privacy, Security, Breach Notification, and Enforcement Rules. In this role, Ms. Gordon-Nguyen leads the development and implementation of health information privacy policies through rulemaking initiatives and sub-regulatory guidance; advises federal agencies, including the Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP), on aspects of the HIPAA Rules; and serves as an ex officio member of the Secretary's Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections (SACHRP), among other responsibilities. Ms. Gordon-Nguyen received her Law Degree from Georgetown Law and her Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
