THIS IS A SATELLITE SYMPOSIUM
Pet therapy is a guided interaction between a person and a trained animal. It has been well documented that interacting with a friendly pet can help many physical and mental issues, including a reduction in blood pressure and improved overall cardiovascular health. In healthcare providers, interactions with a therapy animal have been shown to combat symptoms of burn out and stress. Pet therapy is just one of the many strategies that IES is employing in order to build resilience amongst our emergency providers. Along with an in house peer support network, corporate chaplaincy program and tailored, site-based strategies for health and wellness, we aspire to promote an environment that encourages providers to achieve balance in their personal, professional, and spiritual needs - ultimately enabling them to perform at their peak.
