The number of women enrolled US medical schools has increased in the past decade, with women now representing 50% of medical school matriculants. Despite the increasing number of female residents, the percentage of female residents entering emergency medicine residencies has remained relatively stagnant at 37% in 2015. Female residents face gender-specific stressors and disparities which are exacerbated by their vulnerable positions as trainees. In this presentation we present six effective, resident-driven #Shemergency strategies to promote gender bias awareness and recruitment/retention of female emergency medicine residents: 1) Increase awareness of gender bias; 2) Promotion/Advancement; 3) Contract Negotiation; 4) Evaluation; 5) Award Recognition; 6) Wellness.
