The rise of Twitter and FOAMed has resulted in a robust exchange of teaching tips from medical educators nationally. It can be challenging to keep up with the techniques and know when or how to use them. We will review several recently popularized techniques including Post-it Pearls and White-Board Teaching. We will discuss advantages and disadvantages of different techniques and how to execute them effectively. We will also cover lesser known innovative teaching techniques including the use of Google docs as a living document for on-shift teaching as well as incorporating board review into staffing, and unique staffing models that challenge and engage the learner. The session will also include a brief small group session where learners can practice one of the methods discussed. We will provide a summary hand out of the different methods and highlight tips for success of each method. The goals of this session are to describe teaching methods that are unique, engaging and efficient and to expand the learner’s bedside teaching tool box.
