Much of the work on diversity recruitment has been successful at the medical school level. Attrition rate is high at the level of graduate medical education recruitment even at top residency programs. This interactive session will cover the milestones of diversity programs in an effort to improve recruitment. We will discuss successful interventions, what leads to suboptimal efforts or failure, and investigate several promising initiatives across the country. We will cover pipeline programs, the role of standardized tests as barriers, and the holistic review process. Through facilitated discussions, we will investigate various stages of diversity efforts and the current state of affairs. Participants will share experiences and the enhanced learning session will leave a newfound awareness of these key concepts.
