Timothy Munzing, MD is a Board Certified Family Medicine physician with Kaiser Permanente in Orange County, California for over three decades, having graduated from UCLA Medical School. For the last 30 years, he has been the program director of the KP-Orange County Family Medicine Residency Program, while managing a panel of patients.
Dr. Munzing has become one of the nation’s premier physician experts on illegal versus appropriate opioid prescribing, in 2017 publishing a peer reviewed medical article, “Physician Guide to Appropriate Opioid Prescribing for Noncancer Pain”. Over the last decade, he has reviewed over 150 cases for law enforcement, most pertaining to opioid prescribing. Dr. Munzing works with the Ventura Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force, Medical Board of California, DEA Tactical Diversion Squad, FBI, and other local law enforcement agencies, and has often testified in both State and Federal Court on opioid prescribing cases. Dr. Munzing has lectured over 25 times to thousands of physicians, law enforcement (DEA, FBI, etc.), and prosecutors (state and federal) on opioid prescribing and investigations of illegal opioid prescribing. He is the first physician member of the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators (NADDI) California Board of Directors.
