Senior Health Scientist

Dr. Alana Vivolo-Kantor is a Senior Health Scientist on the Overdose Epidemiology and Surveillance Team in the Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) working on the Enhanced State Opioid Overdose Surveillance (ESOOS) grant. She serves as a activity lead for the nonfatal morbidity data submitted by ESOOS-funded health departments. She oversees the scientific technical assistance provided to funded state health departments and manages the Emergency Department (ED) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) data delivery (including coordination and partnership with CDC’s NSSP/ESSENCE). Prior to coming to DUIP, Dr. Vivolo-Kantor was a Behavioral Scientist in CDC’s Division of Violence Prevention in the Research and Evaluation Branch where she focused on measurement, surveillance, etiologic research, and program evaluation activities for youth violence, bullying, and teen dating violence.
