Physician Director, Pharmacy & Therapeutics/Medication Safety
Dr. Carol Forster is the Physician Director of Pharmacy and Therapeutics/Medication Safety for the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group. She attended St. John’s University College of Pharmacy prior to attending Medical School at State University of New York at Buffalo. Working as a pharmacist throughout medical school, she then completed her residency at Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, and soon after, joined the Permanente Medical Group. She has held several administrative positions over the last 30 years, including Physician Director of Patient Safety, Health Systems representative in Richmond on the Governor’s Task Force on Opioid and Heroin Use, Physician representative on the Medical Society of Virginia Opioid Task force, and currently is a member of several workgroups inside and outside of the organization focused on opioid reduction strategies to end the opioid crisis in the communities that our health plan serves.
