Ms. Zurla has more than 15 years of experience leading large, complex public health communications programs and campaigns, including the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) inaugural opioid education campaign, Rx Awareness, and other key Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention (DUIP) projects such as the Opioid Resource Exchange and Data Visualization Library. Throughout her career, Ms. Zurla has provided expert leadership for dozens of federal health communications campaigns, including the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s SAMHSA’s congressionally mandated “Talk. They Hear You.” underage drinking prevention national media campaign; and CDC’s inaugural One Test, Two Lives; routine HIV testing campaigns targeting consumers and healthcare providers. Her expertise spans all areas of communications and she has worked on critical public health issues such as opioids, substance use prevention, underage drinking prevention, HIV, chronic disease, and smoking cessation. Ms. Zurla has spent her career advising on effective strategies for getting important public health messages to those who need them most.
