Assistant U.S. Attorney Sherri Walker Hobson has been a federal prosecutor for almost three decades. She joined the United States Attorney’s Office in San Diego in 1990, after a one-year position with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Honors Program. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and attended law school at Northeastern University in Boston. Ms. Hobson has numerous national awards for her groundbreaking trials and investigations, including the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys’ Director’s Award For Team Litigation, the Exceptional Service Award by the National Association of Former U.S. Attorneys, the OCDETF Prosecution Team Award, Homeland Security Investigations National Prosecution of the Year Award, Homeland Security Investigation National Team Award, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers’ Association Group Achievement Award, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers’ Association Prosecutor of the Year Award, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement National Contraband Case of the Year Award, the OCDETF Case of the Year Award, and the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) Prosecutor of the Year Award. She currently spearheads the law enforcement Fentanyl Working Group in San Diego, organizes the Fentanyl Forum, and speaks regularly to community groups and news media about the dangers of fentanyl and methamphetamine use and drug trafficking at the border. She also sits on the advisory U.S. Department of Justice Fentanyl Working Group.
