Carrie Thomas Goetz, PhD is currently the Epidemiologist for the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PA PDMP). She joined the PA PDMP in October 2016 after spending the previous five years as an infectious disease epidemiologist for the West Virginia Bureau for Public Health. She has bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Psychology from West Virginia University and a PhD in Psychiatric Epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh. In addition, she and the Pennsylvania PDMP team were the recipients of the Governor’s Awards for Excellence in 2016, for building the state’s PDMP from the ground up in less than five months.
