NORC at the University of Chicago, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), has developed the Opioid Misuse Community Assessment Tool. This mapping tool displays drug overdose mortality rates, risk factors that contribute to vulnerability, and other socio-demographic and economic variables that may influence drug use, misuse, and overdose rates. The tool is available at opioidmisusetool.norc.org. Users of the tool can gather drug overdose mortality rate information for their state or county and overlay socio-economic and demographic information to identify patterns. It also allows users to create county fact sheets that can be emailed and/or printed to support county-level planning to address the opioid crisis. The tool is based on a prior NORC effort focused in the Appalachian region (overdosemappingtool.norc.org). In this session, the presenter will provide a demonstration of the Opioid Misuse Community Assessment Tool and describe NORC’s next steps related to this effort.
This session is accredited for the following accreditation types: CME, CNE, CPE, APA, AAFP, AAHCPAD*, NAADAC*, ASWB,* GA Bar, GA POST.
