Track 2: Enhancing Use of Medical Countermeasures and Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions
Part A: Challenges of Conducting Mass Prophylaxis Clinics in Mid-Sized Jail Settings in Marion County, Indiana
A recent Hepatitis A outbreak challenged the Marion County Public Health Department with conducting mass clinics in two mid-sized local jails. Conducting these clinics differed logistically from traditional settings, with safety and security of particular concern. This session describes the challenges faced and strategies used to overcome them.
Part B: 2018 Hepatitis A Response, Tennessee: Vaccines, Jail PODs, and Operations Coordination
The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) in concert with local public health took action to assess hepatitis A disease burden, monetize the impact to healthcare, and justify a department-wide vaccine response strategy. In this session, attendees will learn how TDH implemented hundreds of community interventions and vaccinated over 40,000 people.
