In the study of mass shootings, the perspective of survivors add an important element of understanding for our first responders, and larger communities, to better understand how to increase our prevention, response, and recovery capabilities. This session provides takeaways on communicating active threat response to students and the public.
Part B: Building Community Behavioral Health Resilience Following Civil Unrest: Developing a Medical Reserve Corps Disaster Behavioral Health Team
In response to psychological trauma resulting from the August 11 and 12, 2017 Unite the Right Rally in Charlottesville, VA, public health staff coordinated with mental health groups to develop an MRC Behavioral Health Team to prepare for and respond to behavioral health needs for August 10-13, 2018, and beyond.
